Shanta was born in West Bengal, India. She received her Ph. D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. Her graduate work was in the area of bioinorganic chemistry with the overall goal being to develop copper(II) complexes to effect photocleavage of double stranded DNA at longer wavelengths. In 2006, she came to this side of the globe and joined Johns Hopkins University as a postdoctoral fellow where she worked in the area of bioorganic chemistry with Prof. Marc M. Greenberg developing fluorescent sensors for the detection of various DNA lesions. In 2007, Shanta joined the group of Prof. Stephen J. Lippard at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her postdoctoral studies were focused on nanocarrier-mediated delivery of platinum-based drugs for their potential applications in cancer. Shanta joined the chemistry department at the University of Georgia in August 2010 and currently she is in the process of motivating young talents towards the exciting field of metal-based nanomedicine for their potential uses in different human diseases.

Rakesh is from Rajasthan, India. He received a his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in the field of bio-inorganic chemistry with Prof. C. P. Rao. His current research interest is in the field of drug delivery using polymeric vehicles.

Sean Marrache was born in Chicago, Illinois. He received a bachelors from the University of Georgia where he did undergraduate research in the field of physical chemistry with Dr. Gary Douberly. His current research interest is in the field of drug delivery using polymeric vehicles.

Joshua Choi was born in Danville, Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor degree from Iowa State University. His undergraduate research involves in vitro skin expansion bioreactor system for burn injuries in Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM). His current research interest is in the field of hybrid nanoparticles for cancer immunotherapy.

Dillon was born in San Fransisco, California and is currently a second year undergraduate at the University of Georgia. He is majoring in Chemistry and Cellular Biology with a Pre-Medical emphasis. This is his first research experience.

Kasey is an undergraduate student from Macon, Georgia. She is a B.S. Chemistry major and this is her third year at the University of Georgia. She is excited about her work on organelle-targeted drug delivery. Kasey plans to return to UGA after receiving her bachelor degree to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry.

Sam Kennedy was born in Columbus, Ohio. Sam is a first year undergraduate student majoring in Chemistry. This is Sam's first research experience and he is looking forward to learning the foundations of nanocarrier delivery of metal-based drugs.

Malikah is from Alpharetta, GA and is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia. She is majoring in Chemistry and plans to go to dental school once she completes her studies here. This is her first research position and she is looking forward to gaining hands on experience on mitochondria-targeted delivery of chemotherapeutics.

Akil was born in Lisle, Illinois before moving to India for 7 years. He currently resides in McDonough, GA and is a second year undergraduate majoring in Chemistry with a Pre-Medicine emphasis. This is his first research experience and he is looking for an exciting time in the lab working in the field of detection of vulnerable plaques.

Krupa was born in Bombay, India and is from McDonough, Georgia. She is a first year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia double majoring in Chemistry and Economics. She is looking forward to learning more about nanotherapeutics and combination therapy for prostate cancer. She plans to go to medical school once her undergraduate has been completed.

Chinmaya was born in Abha, Saudi Arabia but now lives in Augusta, Georgia. He is a first year undergraduate student majoring in Biology and Political Science. This is his first research experience and he is intrigued to learn about the effect of phototherapy on cancer and other diseases.

Harris was born in Massapequa, NY and currently live in Kennesaw, GA. He is a sophomore at the University of Georgia, majoring in Finance and Biochemistry with a Pre-Medical emphasis. He hopes to make a difference in the medical world through conducting research.
